Fly Fishing Classes

Our fly fishing class is an introduction to the sport of fly fishing. Fly fishing can be a little intimidating to someone new to the sport. We take a patient approach to help you learn the basics of fly fishing so you will be able to go out fly fishing on your own. The class includes two evening classroom sessions at Charlie's Fly Box followed by a full day of class on the river. The classroom sessions are geared toward teaching you about the various aspects of fly fishing. The river session is geared toward providing you with enough experience to help you feel comfortable fly fishing on your own. Subjects covered in the classroom and on the water will include the history of fly fishing, equipment, knots and rigging, entomology (the study aquatic insects), reading water and casting. Students will be able to practice their skills on the water.

For more experienced anglers we offer clinics specifically tailored to the student. We offer advanced nyphing clinics, dry fly clinics and streamer clinics. These clinics are one day in length and conducted on the water with a maximum of three anglers per clinic. Please contact us for more information. Email fishing@trouttrips.com.

Prices include professional teaching and instruction, class hand-outs, rod/reel/wader use for the river day and special discounts on equipment. Students will be responsible for their own transportation, fishing license and flies/leaders to be used on the river. We encourage you to bring plenty of water and a lunch for the river session.
